Create a ChatGPT Ads campaign workbook

ChatGPT Ads is the third channel in Ads Studio, next to Meta and Google. The difference is how it ships: Meta and Google campaigns launch from Orchestra into your own ad accounts, while a ChatGPT campaign is generated by Orchestra and exported as an OpenAI Ads Manager bulk-upload workbook that you upload yourself. Orchestra does not publish to ChatGPT directly and has no OpenAI partnership.

Before you start

  • You need a ChatGPT Ads advertiser account in OpenAI Ads Manager. Nothing is connected to Orchestra — no OAuth, no keys.
  • Your Orchestra workspace should have a completed Blueprint (marketing strategy) and a website on file. Brand DNA improves the copy; an AI visibility (GEO) analysis improves the targeting where your plan includes it.
  • Ads Studio is included from Starter. A ChatGPT campaign counts like one Meta or Google campaign plan on your plan (Starter: one per platform per month; Pro and above: no fixed cap).

1. Generate the campaign

Open Ads and choose ChatGPT Ads Campaign. The launcher walks through the campaign in ten short steps and pre-fills each one from your business:

  • Objective — awareness, website traffic or conversions.
  • Destination — the page the ad links to (pre-filled with your website).
  • Geography — the countries OpenAI Ads Manager supports; unsupported ones are flagged.
  • Conversation targeting — Orchestra writes Context Hints: plain-language descriptions of conversations where your ad is relevant, such as small businesses comparing AI marketing tools. Edit, delete or add your own. The Campaign intelligence panel shows which sources fed them — website, Brand DNA, strategy, AI search topics and, with Advanced AI Visibility, competitor visibility gaps.
  • Ad groups & ads — the hints are grouped into one to three themed ad groups, each with two to three ad variations. Titles are limited to 24 characters and copy to 48; the counters turn red when you go over. One square image (PNG or JPG, 640–1200 px) is shared by every ad — generate one or pick from your library.
  • Budget — a daily budget of at least 15.00 in your account currency (OpenAI Ads Manager rejects lower budgets).
  • Bidding — a maximum bid is required for Clicks and Conversions campaigns; Orchestra shows a recommended starting bid you can accept or change.
  • Conversion goal — for Conversions campaigns, paste the conversion event setting ID from OpenAI Ads Manager. Orchestra never invents one.

2. Review

The review step lists the campaign, every ad group with its Context Hints, and the ads. Nothing is launched from here — the campaign will be created paused when you upload it.

3. Download the workbook

Choose Generate ChatGPT Ads Workbook. Orchestra validates every field against the OpenAI Ads Manager template, fills the official bulk-upload workbook (sheets campaigns, adgroups, ads) and offers the .xlsx for download. If something is invalid — a title over 24 characters, a budget under 15.00, an image that is not publicly reachable — the field is flagged and nothing is generated or counted.

One campaign plan is counted only when a workbook is successfully generated. Editing, regenerating hints, regrouping, re-writing ads and re-downloading the same workbook do not count.

4. Upload to OpenAI Ads Manager

In OpenAI Ads Manager choose the bulk campaign upload option and import the workbook. Check the campaign, ad groups and ads it created, then activate the campaign when you are ready. Ad spend is billed by OpenAI to your own advertiser account.

What Orchestra does not do yet

  • Publish, pause or activate ChatGPT campaigns directly.
  • Show ChatGPT campaign performance inside Orchestra — results live in OpenAI Ads Manager.
  • Optimize running ChatGPT campaigns.

Troubleshooting

  • "Enter a daily budget of at least 15.00" — raise the budget in the Budget step and generate again; the earlier workbook was not counted.
  • A country is struck through — OpenAI Ads Manager does not accept it yet; remove it.
  • Image rejected — the image must be square, 640–1200 px, PNG or JPG, and publicly reachable. Generated images meet these rules; some uploads do not.
  • "Campaign intelligence" shows no analysis yet — the source is included in your plan but has no stored result. Run the analysis in SEO or GEO and generate the campaign again.
